Game of Thrones Fans Noticed a Key Spoiler About Jaime Lannister's Armor In Season Eight Photos

By | February 8, 2019

The last we saw Jaime Lannister, he’d parted ways with his increasingly desperate sister queen and began the journey North. It’s not going to be an easy journey as actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau told me after the Season Seven finale:

He truly believes that we all have to fight this thing. This is humanity at stake. We’ll either have living or dead conquering the world. You see him covering up his gold hand, and he knows he has to get to some sort of commander—whether it be Jon Snow or someone else in charge. Otherwise, he’s going into enemy territory, and he’s quite recognizable with that gold hand. If he wants to even get to battle before he’s killed by Stark soldiers, he’s going to need a bit of luck. You’d hope he can get there.

Yes, let’s hope he can make it there. And the first update we have on Jaime since starting his journey is in these new pictures from Game of Thrones Season Eight. He looks to be in pretty good condition. But, you might also notice something familiar about his armor. As Game of Thrones fans have pointed out, he’s wearing armor of the North army:

So, what could this mean? As Coster-Waldau mentioned to me after the Season Seven finale, it could be that Jaime picked up some Northern armor in order to blend in a little better. But, it’s also possible that he’s made it all the way North and joined up with Jon and Dany at Winterfell, where he got a new Northern fit.

By contrast, here’s the armor Jaime was wearing when he fought with Cersei in the finale:

He’s wisely ditched the lion-adorned armor in favor of the more rustic Northern look. Which at the very least is a visual symbol of his shifting alliances.

Either way, this is hopefully a good sign for how things work out for Jaime on his journey. And not end up as Coster-Waldau feared: “I might read Episode One of Season Eight and it says Jaime meets a Stark soldier and he’s killed. It would be so disappointing.”
